The Process

How do I make my art dolls?

- first, I will make a plan to make the doll, deciding the theme and brainstorming concept ideas.

- each doll is carefully sketched out, down to the last detail

- then I will create the armature for molding the clay onto. Each armature varies slightly depending on the creations size, shape and details. Armatures are made from wire and aluminum foil. These materials become a permanent part of the sculpture and are ok to go in the oven.

- next, I will make sure I have eyes made in the color needed for the doll. All of my dolls eyes are handmade and designed by me from resin, I will be working on various eye tutorials this year.

- I will sculpt any accessories needed and the details of the face on the doll and then bake everything. Sometimes this can take more than one baking process

- at this point,  we are ready to start adding the details for the gown

- the main fabrics are made from clay and intricately placed on the doll so the clay fabric hangs as natural as possible

- details are added, anything extra is made and the hair is attached!

- the final part of the process is to paint any details needed, including the makeup on the face!

- lastly, I will make sure there is a signature at the bottom that has my name on it!

And you’re done <3
